BTI (Binding Tariff Information) is an official EU customs decision confirming the classification of goods. Valid for 3 years, binding across all EU member states.

Classification of other longitudinally welded pipes >406 mm - CN 730512

CN code 730512 covers other longitudinally welded steel pipes with outside diameter exceeding 406.4 mm, not included under 730511. These are large-diameter LSAW pipes for applications other than oil/gas pipelines - water supply, sewerage, steam, structural columns, foundation piles and industrial installations. Produced from structural steel grades S235, S275, S355 or S460 per EN 10219 or EN 10217. Classification requires: longitudinal weld, diameter >406.4 mm and non-oil/gas purpose. Diameters from 406 mm to 2500 mm, wall thicknesses from 5 mm to 30 mm.

Import requirements for welded pipes CN 730512

Importing pipes under CN code 730512 into the EU is subject to Union Customs Code. Pressure pipes fall under PED 2014/68/EU with CE marking. Structural pipes under CPR (EU) No 305/2011. Required documents include commercial invoice, material certificate EN 10204, weld inspection reports, transport documents and certificate of origin. From 1 January 2026, imports may be subject to CBAM. Drinking water pipes require hygienic approval. Large-diameter pipes are often shipped by sea due to significant dimensions and weight.

Trade measures for welded pipes CN 730512

Pipes under CN code 730512 are subject to EU safeguard measures in TRQ form with 25% additional duty. AD duties may apply to welded pipes from China, India or Turkey. Imports from Russia and Belarus are subject to EU sanctions. Preferential rates available under FTAs. Large-diameter LSAW pipes for non-oil applications constitute a significant welded pipe market segment. Total costs include MFN duty, AD, safeguard, CBAM and VAT. Current rates in TARIC.

Customs classification of other longitudinally welded pipes >406 mm (CN 7305 12)

CN code 7305 12 of the Combined Nomenclature covers other longitudinally welded pipes >406 mm within Chapter 73, which deals with articles of iron or steel. Classification in this chapter is based on the type of article, its intended use, manufacturing method (casting, forging, welding, stamping) and base material (cast iron, non-alloy steel, stainless steel or alloy steel). Correct classification requires analysis of technical documentation. Where classification is uncertain, importers can obtain Binding Tariff Information (BTI) ruling from customs authorities, valid for three years.
