Frequently asked questions

What lamps are classified under subheading 8539 29?
Filament lamps not covered by other subheadings: above 200 W, low-voltage up to 100 V, projection, IR drying, non-halogen stage and measurement lamps. This is a residual subheading requiring exclusion of 8539 10, 8539 21 and 8539 22. A BTI ruling is recommended if in doubt.
Are projection lamps subject to Ecodesign?
Projection lamps as specialist sources may benefit from Ecodesign exemptions under Annex V of Regulation (EU) 2019/2020, provided no LED alternative with identical optical and mechanical parameters exists. Importers should verify eligibility for the specific lamp type.
